I found the inclusion of the "right to repair" discussion somewhat out of place with the other topics. All of the main topics of the conference seem to concern critical issues. Somehow I don't think the future of civilization hinges on whether we can replace batteries in our electronic devices.
I asked this when the conference was announced, but I’d still like a little more detail on what “COVID restrictions will be in effect” actually means.
Or, if the plight of the farmer feels too distant for you, wonder about your own vehicle.I found the inclusion of the "right to repair" discussion somewhat out of place with the other topics. "Right to repair" is about much more than replacing batteries. Ask any farmer about repairing a modern tractor or combine.

Agreed. But I still argue that that is a marketplace issue and not one that will affect the future in any significant way.

Really? You could argue that repairing is the most effective and efficient form of recycling.

“Everyone has to be vaccinated and boosted and prove it, and take a proctored/verifiable Covid test within 48 hours of the event, and masks are strongly encouraged when not eating or drinking.”
I would argue that masks should be required rather than strongly encouraged to be most on point, but the above is what is in the invite.
I would love to go but I cannot. Anyway these talks can to be uploaded in a podcast feed for ArsTechnica subscribers?

The John Deere logo is pound for pound more expensive than platinum. It raises the cost of any part by 300%.
Yeah, I was going to say the same. It's a shame, but there's no way I could justify flying to the US for a one day event.Any chance of attending electronically to the main event? As much as I'd like to be there, crossing the pond for a single day conference seems neither reasonable nor responsible...
If not I'll be grateful for the livestreams mentioned in the days leading up to the event. They'll be great too, I'm sure!

Where? It says the prelude chats will be streamed, but says nothing about streaming the in-person panels or why they cannot be streamed.

I think that is the answer. The previous article also said “While this will be an invite-only event, several of the sessions will be livestreamed on Twitter.”

Well, right now it's preventing the Russians from using any of the farming equipment they stole from Ukraine
I actually just got a slight trim last week! Took the length up from from "Dave Grohl" to "Keanu Reeves." But prior to that, my last haircut was pre-pandemic, in Nov 2019.Off topic, but when was the last time Lee got a haircut? He’s got a definite grunge look going!
All attendees and speakers need to show proof of vaccination + booster at the door, and also need to bring a negative COVID test taken in the last 48 hours. (We'll have a pile of test kits for folks who can't conveniently test because of travel.) No booster, no entry. No negative test, no entry.I asked this when the conference was announced, but I’d still like a little more detail on what “COVID restrictions will be in effect” actually means.
I am told that is what will be happening, yes. Will see if I can get confirmation as to exactly how things will be available.I am hoping that the sessions will be recorded and made available after the event. Please?
